2020 Jeep Wrangler Capability

Go on an Off-Road Adventure in the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

The 2020 Jeep® Wrangler is as comfortable maneuvering through busy city streets as it is crawling through a canyon. Situated in size between the Jeep Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee, the Wrangler is a midsize SUV with four available trims — Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon.

The Rubicon trim level, designed specifically for off-roading adventures, has locking differentials for its front and rear wheel axles, a 4:1 gear ratio for the four-wheel drive system and all-terrain tires on 17-inch alloy wheels.

With the Sahara model, you'll get a full-time Selec-Trac® 4x4 system that switches between 2x4 and 4x4 automatically to maximize traction in any condition.

Traction and 4x4 Capability

Traction is an essential element of successful off-roading. Jeep helps you handle even the most unpredictable terrain. You'll have three choices with the 2020 Jeep Wrangler's 4x4 systems. The Rock-Trac® 4x4 system is the most capable of the three, with electronic sway bar disconnect, 4:1 low gear ratio and electronic front and rear differentials.

The Command-Trac® 4x4 system has a 2.72:1 low range that makes it perfect for rock crawling. With the Selec-Trac® 4x4 system, you'll have full-time traction control that toggles automatically between four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive, depending on the driving conditions.

Waterfording and Ground Clearance

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is uniquely equipped to handle water levels that other SUVs and trucks can't safely maneuver. Its high air intake, moisture-resistant openings in the underside of the body and sealed electrical connections make taking on water up to 30 inches deep easy for the Wrangler.

Underbody skid plates protect the Wrangler's essential equipment, so driving over rocks and trail debris is a stress-free and fun experience.

Maneuverability and Articulation

High-performance wheelbases and precision steering systems make the Wrangler the ideal match for tight spots in trails and rocky terrain.

Articulation keeps the 2020 Wrangler's wheels on the ground, even when navigating uneven surfaces. This is essential to maintain traction and stay safe on the trail.

Engine Options

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is now available with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine paired with a four-door body style. The EcoDiesel engine boasts a total range of more than 500 miles, according to Jeep. It has 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. With an 18.1-gallon fuel tank, this off-road-capable vehicle easily meets the needs of every driver.

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine with your choice of a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. This rugged powertrain delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, automatic start/stop technology adds to this engine's efficiency.

You can also choose a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 turbocharged gasoline engine with eTorque and automatic transmission for an EPA-estimated 22 MPG on the highway. This engine is equipped with extra power for exceptional starting and rock crawling.

There's also an available four-cylinder engine option for both the two- and four-door 2020 Wrangler models. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 295 lb-ft of torque and the eTorque Mild Hybrid system are perfect for powerful off-road performance and great gas mileage.
