2020 Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel Driving Range and Fuel Efficiency

North America's 2020 Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel Engine Debut

The new Jeep® Wrangler 3.0-liter EcoDiesel debuts with the 2020 Jeep Wrangler four-door lineup. The Jeep Wrangler is an iconic off-road vehicle that has retained its boxy good looks over the years. Although the new engine is amazingly powerful and economical, it's also a great match for the best off-roading vehicle available today.

In response to overwhelming consumer demand, Jeep is now offering the EcoDiesel engine with the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited four-door lineup in North America. Expected EPA fuel-efficiency ratings mean drivers will get further than ever on a single tank of gas when they choose the Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel engine.

You can get the new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine only with the new 2020 Jeep Wrangler four-door models. See the brand-new 2020 Jeep Wrangler lineup and test-drive a Wrangler outfitted with the groundbreaking EcoDiesel engine right here at Gill Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Fresno, California.

Ecodiesel Fuel Efficiency and Range

According to Jeep, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the EcoDiesel V6 engine will have a range of more than 500 miles. It has an 18.1-gallon fuel tank. EPA-estimated gas mileage is not yet available. The V-6 and turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engines with automatic transmission get an EPA-estimated 22 mpg.

Jeep Wrangler won "Wards 10 Best Engines" in 2014, 2015, and 2016. The new EcoDiesel engine builds on that success. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 features dual overhead camshafts with a 60-degree angle between cylinder banks and four valves each. The compacted graphite iron construction weighs less than gray cast iron but provides additional strength to mitigate engine vibration.

A set of completely redesigned individual shift maps work to create economical shift points for increased 4x4 capability, better performance, and increased fuel economy.

The EcoDiesel Jeep Wrangler only requires oil changes every 10,000 miles. The 5.1-gallon diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank is located behind the fuel tank. The refill location is next to the diesel fuel filter and refills conveniently coincide with oil changes.

2020 Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel Models

The Wrangler EcoDiesel engine is available with the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon. With the Wrangler Rubicon, you'll get a ROck-Trac 2-speed transfer case with a low-range gear ratio of 4.0:1. With the Sport and Sahara models, you'll get a Command-Trac part-time 2-speed transfer case with a low-range gear ratio of 2.72:1.

Other fuel economy improving upgrades to the EcoDiesel engine include optimized compression ratio, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system redesign, redesigned direct-injection fuel injector nozzles, and a new mechanical low-friction pump in the dual vacuum pump system that improves overall system efficiency.

Ecodiesel Performance

Engine Stop Start (ESS) is standard with the Wrangler 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine. You'll get 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. The new TorqueFlite 8HP75 8-speed automatic transmission is specially calibrated to handle low RPM shifts, making it ideal for off-road adventures.

The new 2020 Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel engine will provide drivers with the best-ever driving range and fuel efficiency across the Jeep Wrangler lineup. Extensive design changes created a vehicle that is amazingly economical without compromising off-road capabilities.
